High Performance Team
Seasonal and flexible training for FIS-age athletes pursuing advanced ski racing. Athletes can commit to a full season or selected training blocks, with training running 5 days per week, Wednesday to Sunday, in line with the FIS NZ race calendar.
Includes race support at selected FIS events, international guest workshops, training alongside World Cup athletes, and in-depth video analysis. Weekly schedules adapt to weather, recovery, and race demands.
Pre-requisites for FIS Team:
Active FIS License
Very advanced skier, capable in all conditions
High-level race experience (FIS/international and National Champs)

Expert on-snow training, including race support
Workshops with international guests
Training alongside World Cup athletes
In-depth video analysis
Transport from Wānaka to training and races
Wānaka Ski Team jacket (provided at the pre-programme information evening and returned on the final day)
Full-time, 5-day-per-week training for U14 and U16 athletes progressing to National Points racing, focused on technical precision, speed, and consistency, supporting the shift from “learning to train” to “training to compete.”
Training at Cardrona and Treble Cone includes technical development, race preparation, and competition, supported by fitness training, video analysis, and Individual Performance Planning.

Competitive Team
Athletes must be confidently skiing parallel turns on green/blue terrain. A video submission is required prior to registration.
The Competitive Team is designed for athletes aged U8 to U16 looking to develop their alpine ski racing skills in a flexible training environment. Running throughout the winter season, athletes can train 1 to 5 days per week and book consecutive training blocks from 1 to 9 weeks.
This programme focuses on building strong fundamentals, improving technical skills, and developing race confidence. Athletes receive coaching support both in training and at selected Interfield / National Points races, providing valuable competitive experience.
Led by experienced coaches, the Competitive Team is an ideal introduction to ski racing and a clear pathway toward progression into the Junior and Youth High Performance Teams.

Racer Ready
Racer Ready Holiday Camps are for U8 to U16 athletes, welcoming both new and experienced ski racers. Five camps run throughout the season (three in July, two in Spring), each delivering five days of structured, fun, and engaging training.
The programme provides a ski racing environment, focusing on technical development, race skills, and confidence, while allowing athletes to get the most out of their time on snow, whatever their goals.
A great option for athletes looking to build toward Competitive and High Performance programmes.

Private training is available throughout the season, either as a standalone option or alongside a programme. Sessions are fully tailored to the athlete, with 1:1 coaching focused on individual goals and development.

Masters Team
Masters Training offers two days per week of structured on-snow coaching for athletes aged 18+ looking to develop their technical skills in a fun and social environment.
The programme caters to a range of abilities, from novice to experienced racers, providing a supportive setting to refine technique, build confidence, and enjoy time on snow.
Commitment: 2 days per week (Wednesday & Thursday), 20 days total

Spring Camp
Spring Camp is designed for athletes looking to finish the season with focused, high-quality training. Ideal for season-long athletes or those wanting a more dedicated training block at the end of winter.
The programme provides a high-performance training environment, focusing on refining technical, mental, and tactical skills while consolidating progress made throughout the season.
A valuable opportunity to build on strengths, address key areas for improvement, and finish the season with purpose—while still enjoying time on snow with the team.

We recommend signing up as soon as possible, at least 4 months in advance. While we don't have a specific cutoff date, we do have limited availability!
Wānaka Ski Team has access to dedicated training arenas at both Cardrona and Treble Cone depending on each team’s training needs.
For the 2026 season, Wānaka Ski Team will take athletes born in 2020 and older.
