Investing in the maunga’s earth
Plant A Seed
What is Plant A Seed?
The Cardrona Foundation's Plant a Seed project is all about making the maunga as healthy, biodiverse, and beautiful as it can be, while educating the next generation. We host on-mountain activation events educating our guests on the importance of nurturing a healthy land, reducing plastic waste and encouraging native plants species to thrive.
What we've achieved
We've planted over 13,000 native plants across Cardrona and Treble Cone since 2018.
Plants are now bedding in over winter, playing a massive role in restoring these mountain landscapes.
Local schools are actively involved in our replanting projects, helping to educate the next generation about horticulture and kaitiakitanga.
A nursery at the base of the mountain allows us to harvest and grow seeds sourced from around the maunga.
