Investing in the maunga’s earth

Plant A Seed

What is Plant A Seed?

The Cardrona Foundation's Plant a Seed project is all about making the maunga as healthy, biodiverse, and beautiful as it can be, while educating the next generation. We host on-mountain activation events educating our guests on the importance of nurturing a healthy land, reducing plastic waste and encouraging native plants species to thrive.

What we've achieved

  • We've planted over 13,000 native plants across Cardrona and Treble Cone since 2018.

  • Plants are now bedding in over winter, playing a massive role in restoring these mountain landscapes.

  • Local schools are actively involved in our replanting projects, helping to educate the next generation about horticulture and kaitiakitanga.

  • A nursery at the base of the mountain allows us to harvest and grow seeds sourced from around the maunga.
