What’s on: Spring laps at Cardrona

What a way to wrap up Treble Cone last weekend! Closing Day delivered 10cm of freshies overnight and seriously good vibes, so thank you to everyone who came up to send TC off in style. See you in 2027, TC.

Now all eyes are on Cardrona, and there's still plenty of season left with 17 days to go. We’ve got great coverage, and it's the perfect time to get your Spring laps in.

From 5 October, lift hours shift 30 minutes later, so lifts will spin from 9am to 4.30pm through to closing on 18 October. With daylight savings bringing longer, sunnier days, the later hours line up with the best of the spring conditions. Snow is often firm first thing and softens through the afternoon, so the later finish gives you more time on it when it's at its best.

Weather

• Friday, Oct 2: Cloudy periods, with rain late morning and afternoon, then the chance of a shower. High 3°C.

• Saturday, Oct 3: Cloud clearing and becoming fine before dawn. High 1°C.

• Sunday, Oct 4: Sunny and fine, light winds. High 4°C.

Friday's a breezy one, with winds up around 39km/h and a top of 3°C, so expect it to feel colder than it looks. Saturday settles right down with light winds. Sunday is the pick of the weekend, with clear skies, barely a breath of wind and a high of 4°C, so it's well worth getting up there for a bluebird day.

World Ski Awards 

Last year, thanks to all of you, Cardrona was named New Zealand's Best Ski Resort at the World Ski Awards, and we're still a little bit chuffed about it. We're up for it again in 2026, and if Cardies has been part of your winter this season, we'd be so grateful for your vote.

Events

Cardrona Freestyle Australia New Zealand Cup (FIS ANC)

FIS points are up for grabs in Halfpipe, Big Air and Slopestyle. The ANC is the last Southern Hemisphere FIS event where international athletes can earn Continental Cup points to help them qualify for the FIS World Cup and, eventually, the Winter Olympic Games. Swing by the park and cheer on the crew. Find out more

Food and Beverage Highlights

• Captain’s Pizzeria: It is spring beers on the deck season! Ski-in / ski-out eatery with some of the best views on the mountain, a fully stocked bar and Cardrona-famous pizza.

• Base Café: Daily ‘mountain meals’ with plenty of savoury and sweet cabinet treats that keep energy levels up, Base Café is a great pit stop to fill up when you’re on the go.

• The Mezz: Quality restaurant eats if you're after a slower start. Hot tip: with school holidays kicking off, book ahead! New for spring, you can now enjoy your favourite Mezz après in the courtyard, with table serivce from 2:45pm – 3:30pm (weather dependent).

• Vista Bar: Spring days are for refreshments with a view, the top spot on the mountain.

Terrain Parks 

All parks are open, with the team working on adding and swapping new features. Both of our halfpipes are open! The 22ft Super Pipe and the International Halfpipe, otherwise known as the People's Pipe. The Big Air recently got a rebuild for spring as well. Who doesn’t love a slushy park lap.
