What's On: Summer at Cardrona - Bikes, alpine runs and more

We’re heading into peak season, which means we’re ready for you 7 days a week from 26 December to 19 January. Bring the whānau and your mates for biking, carting, hiking, sightseeing, and a well-earned refuel at Noodle Bar. 

Rolling into the New Year, we kick off our summer events schedule with a packed January line-up - from alpine running with Rise & Shine to loads of bike action with Gravity Enduro, Fast Fridays, and the classic Peak to Pub. Pick your event, and we'll see you on the hill.

 

January events

Rise and Shine Summer Mountain Run Series  Saturday 3 Jan, Saturday 10 Jan Summer events are locked and loaded. First up: a brand-new alpine running series for big views and bigger smiles. Rise & Shine hits Cardrona on Fri 3 Jan and Treble Cone on Sat 10 Jan. Challenging terrain, big vistas, and prizes plus bragging rights at the finish line.

Cardrona Gravity Enduro  Sunday 4 Jan   All downhill, zero climbing. Our 100% gravity-assisted enduro race gives you chairlift access between stages. It’s a relaxed format: grab a timing chip, practice as much as you like, then clock at least one timed run per stage. Fastest combined times earn a place on the podium.

Fast Fridays Social Racing   Friday 9 Jan – Friday 27 Feb Our Friday social race series returns for another year with even more Friday races. Start the weekend early with evening laps, new trails each week, and prizes thanks to Trek and BEffect. Courses are intermediate downhill/enduro and mostly Blue (Grade 3–4). Racing starts at 5pm with results and awards at 8pm. Pre-register, or enter on the day before 6pm.

Cardrona Peak to Pub  Friday 23 Jan 

As part of the Queenstown Mountain Bike Festival, we’re bringing back a crowd favourite. A mass start from the top of Whitestar with 1,300m vertical over ~14km of downhill singletrack, finishing at the gates of the historic Cardrona Hotel. Overtake zones aplenty, glory guaranteed. Fastest to the finish takes home the glory, with bonus spot prizes drawn from the start list.
