What’s on: School Holiday Fun and Top Tips

Winter has shown up in true force as we head into the final week of the NZ school holidays. The storm earlier in the week has cleared, and we're beyond excited to open new terrain this weekend with Captains, Valley View at Cardrona – plus we’re aiming to open Soho tomorrow later in the day, for expert skiers and riders only given current snow coverage.

Treble Cone is going from strength to strength too, with fresh snow and prime snowmaking conditions keeping the whole mountain in great shape.

Hot tips for a smooth holiday:

• Sort your passes and rentals in town before you head up, especially if you’re catching the bus. Then you can head right to the slopes when you arrive - future you will thank you. See our town locations here.

• Thinking about Treble Cone? Now’s the perfect time; Home Basin is spinning and the team are working hard to open the saddle over the weekend. Keep your eyes on the snow report for any updates. Plus you won’t find a better view to wobble in front of.

• Park at Valley View ! If you’re an intermediate skier/boarder, you can save the last couple of kilometres up the mountain road and hit the slopes immediately. See trail map here.

• Our Ski Kindy still has space these holidays, so drop the littlies off, and we can take care of the fun. Ski lessons can be part of the package, so you can ski or ride, knowing your kids are having the best time ever. Book here.

• Sunday 12 July: Clear skies, winds picking up to 10km/h. High -2°C

According to Snow-Forecast, it's looking like a great week ahead at Cardrona. Clear skies across all three days with light winds - perfect conditions to get out and make the most of what's shaping up to be a solid base. Cold temps will keep everything in great nick.

Pack your layers, bring your sunnies, sunscreen, and keep an eye on the morning Snow Report before you head up.

Food and Beverage Highlights

• The Mezz: Quality restaurant eats if you're after a slower start. Top tip - book ahead!

• Carol's: Head to Carol's food truck for great snacks, outstanding energy, and heaps of fun - now serving Duck Island Ice Cream.

• Noodle Bar: Asian-inspired deliciousness, matcha lattes, locally made sake and tap beer.

• Vista Bar: Make the most of the views with some bubbles to match.

• Little Meg: Now serving coffee and beer - the perfect pre- and post-ski spot next to Valley View Chairlift.

• TC Cafe: The breakfast burritos are famous for a reason. Best for a swift, tasty refuel so you can get back on the slopes faster.

• TC Altitude Bar: Best views, cold drinks, and that feeling you only get at 1600m.

  

Parks Update

The North Face Cardrona Parks Crew have snuck in a few early jibs in McPark, with more on the way as soon as the snow gods allow.
