Opening Weekend at Cardrona!

Winter 2025 is here, and we’re kicking it off TOMORROW.  Thanks to our snowmaking heroes (and a timely visit from Mother Nature), the countdown is officially over. Cardrona opens for the season tomorrow, Saturday, June 14, and Treble Cone is set to join the party just two weeks later on Friday, June 27. Whether you’re here for your first turns, your 5000th, or just a cheeky bubbles at Vista, you’re in for a good time.

The Week in Weather

According to Snow-Forecast, things are lining up nicely for the weekend. Expect cold temps to keep the snow in good nick, with clear skies looking likely for Saturday-Sunday and possibly a few flurries today. Pack your layers, charge the camera, and don’t forget the SPF!

What’s Open?

This weekend’s all about easing into it:

  • McDougall’s Chondola - McDougall’s Trail - mellow, scenic, and the perfect place to warm up

  • Learner Conveyors & Beginners’ Area -  first-timers, it’s your time to shine

  • Early-season terrain park features in McPark – a few jibs to dial things in

Join us bright and early to bag a coveted W’25 First Chair tee!

Our new base building is nearly there, and we’re aiming to open the Cardrona Corner retail store this weekend, perfect for a fresh beanie, mountain merch, or forgotten mittens.

  • Base Café – pies, fries, and fast mountain fuel

  • Base Bar – barista brews, healthy choices, and your first après of the season

  • The Mezz – quality restaurant eats if you’re after a slower start

  • Vista Bar – bubbles at the top, with views to match

Welcome to Winter – Save the Date

Get ready to go big. On Saturday, June 28, it’s time to party: Welcome to Winter at Cardrona – a celebration of our biggest season yet.

  • When: June 28, 1–4pm (weather day June 29)

  • Where: Cardrona Alpine Resort

  • What: Live music, all-day après, and if snow conditions play ball, the first laps in 150ha of fresh Soho terrain

  • Cost: Free! Just bring your mates and your best dance moves

Line-up still under wraps... but trust us, it’s worth the wait.

Parks Update

The North Face Cardrona Parks Crew have snuck in a few early jibs in McPark, with more on the way as soon as the snow gods allow.

More from Your Maunga

Opening season = early season rates. Day passes are discounted until Whitestar Express opens. It’s a sweet deal while we wait for more terrain to come online. Don’t forget:

  • Our high-tech tuning workshop – Tony and our shiny world-class tuning robot are ready to give your gear the love it deserves

  • First Timer Packages – the easiest way to get started, with gear, lessons, lift pass, and lunch sorted

Dust off the gear, rally the crew, and we’ll see you on the hill for the very first turns of Winter 2025.

Let’s play.
