At Treble Cone, our mission is to run a world class training programme that provides opportunities for athletes to excel in New Zealand and worldwide. Treble Cone is the mecca for freeriding in New Zealand, and our world class coaching team are ready to unlock the next generation to learn and be challenged in a safe, supportive environment.

Core Skills

This programme focuses on revisiting and refining the fundamental skills of skiing and riding. Athletes develop a deeper understanding of how each movement contributes to overall performance, with an emphasis on technical elements that are often overlooked.

  • 2.5 weeks of on-snow technical training

Ski racing techniques are applied to freeride and park to support efficient, high-level performance on snow.

Intermediate and above. Skiers and riders must be confident on blue runs and progressing into varied terrain, including park.

Freeride Holiday Camp

Freeride-focused training camps during the July school holidays at Treble Cone.

Designed for advanced skiers and snowboarders, these camps emphasise the development of core freeride skills, with a focus on performance in variable terrain and conditions.

Across both camps, athletes work with coaches on and off piste to develop line selection, terrain management, and technical execution.

Technical Focus: Development of freeride technique across varied terrain, including control, stability, and use of natural features such as drops and jumps.

Mental Focus: Building confidence and decision-making in off-piste environments, supporting athletes to manage risk and adapt to changing conditions.

Tactical Focus: Planning and line selection, with an emphasis on terrain assessment, timing, and equipment choices to optimise performance.

  • Sunday: Weather day

A 10-week freeride programme at Treble Cone designed for advanced athletes progressing into competition and high-level freeride performance.

The programme focuses on developing core freeride skills alongside competition experience, supporting athletes in both technical progression and long-term development within the sport.

Mental Focus: Building confidence, resilience, and decision-making in competitive and off-piste environments, supporting athletes to manage risk and perform under pressure.

Tactical Focus: Competition preparation and line selection, with an emphasis on terrain assessment, timing, and equipment choices to optimise performance.

Private Training

Private training is available throughout the season, either as a standalone option or alongside a programme. Sessions are fully tailored to the athlete, with 1:1 coaching focused on individual goals and development.

Working closely with experienced freeride coaches, athletes benefit from personalised feedback, technical insight, and targeted training designed to accelerate progression.

Depending on your programme:

  • Core Skills trains Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday

  • Freeride Holiday Camp trains Monday to Saturday (with Sunday as an optional weather day)

  • Season Long training days vary depending on full-time or part-time enrolment

We recommend signing up as soon as possible, at least 4 months in advance. While we don't have a specific cutoff date, we do have limited availability!

We welcome athletes 8 years and over. In addition to the age requirement, each of our programmes has its own prerequisite skill level, this can be found under each programme. If you’re unsure, complete the enquiry form and let us know so we can help you find the right fit for your athlete.

Athletes are required to wear back protection and helmets (MIPS highly recommended). We also recommend impact shorts and mouthguards. 

Lift passes are not included in the programme fee and must be purchased separately. You can view our lift pass options on the Passes page.
