"Well-planned and managed'

We loved the resort. Friendly staff and very organised setup for rentals and returns. The lessons were well-planned and managed. We had a great family experience. Thank you.

Frequently
Asked Questions

First-Timers are people who have never been on skis or a snowboard before and will be mastering the basics on the Learner Conveyor Tunnel and Beginners' Area close to our Base. Learn more about our First Timer Packages here.

Beginners are those who have the ability to stop on skis or a snowboard, and will be working on side-slipping and turning on the Beginner area while gaining confidence and skills to work towards green runs.

Novices are people who want to learn to turn more confidently and will be riding the McDougall's Chondola to access Cardrona’s extensive network of wide, open green trails while gaining confidence and skills to work towards blue runs.

Intermediates are people who can get around the mountain on green and blue runs, who are working on parallel turns on skis or edge control on their snowboard and are looking for an introduction to different snow conditions and terrain choices.

Advanced skiers are taking their skiing and riding to the next level by refining their skills all over the mountain, trying something new with confidence, exploring the mountain both on and off-piste and maybe looking for an introduction to Cardrona’s world-famous park facilities.

Group lessons stop for a lunch break every day at 1pm for 45mins.

Everyone is different and needs different support. To progress from beginner to confident intermediate, you might want around six lessons to start to feel mountain-ready and confident enough to tackle the slopes without an instructor. Lessons are helpful at any time in your skiing or snowboarding journey, whether you're just starting out or looking to refine your skills.

Kids can learn to ski in a group lesson from 3.5yrs and snowboard from 7rs. Children younger than this can take private lessons. Kids over 5 are grouped by age and ability and reassessed within the first 30 mins to make sure they're in the right group. If you have a child under 5, check out our under 5s lessons and Childcare Centre.

Children aged 14 and over pay child price but can join adult lessons.

You’ll choose the workshop based on what you want to focus on. Choose from:

  • Developing skills and tactics for off-piste conditions (ski)

  • Refining technical skills for high-performance carving (ski)

  • Or improving abilities to skillfully navigate natural terrain (snowboard)
