Ready to enjoy an extra 150ha of new terrain?

This winter 2025, we’ll be skiing and snowboarding in Cardrona's Soho Basin! A brand new 6-seater detachable Doppelmayr chairlift will be installed this summer, ready to open for Winter '25. Soho is just behind the top of McDougall's Chondola and Captain's Express. It'll be awesome for intermediate to advanced skiers and riders, and if you’re familiar with our terrain already, think of it a lot like Captain’s; fun and playful with both groomed runs and off-piste areas.

This winter, take McDougall’s or Captain's, follow the signage, and drop in to a whole new playground! We can't wait to see you up here.

How do you get to Soho Basin?

Take McDougall’s Chondola and follow the signage or drop in from behind the top of Captain’s Express.

What kind of skiing and riding will it be at Soho Basin?

Soho Basin will be awesome for intermediate to advanced skiers and riders. If you’re familiar with our terrain already, it will be a lot like Captain’s, fun and playful with both groomed runs and off-piste areas.

What else is new?

To support the new terrain, we're developing our facilities for an even better guest experience! A T-bar is being installed in Cardrona’s Main Basin, allowing quick laps of Big Bucks, Lil’ Bucks, Gravity Cross, and Racecourse. Look out for a new, modern retail and restaurant building, replacing the current retail spot, along with ongoing improvements to snowmaking, parking, roads, and other amenities throughout the summer.

The project is broken into two stages; Stage 1 is building and installing the lift and snowmaking facilities. Stage 2 will involve upgrading our food and beverage outlets throughout the resort to keep your experience at its best.

As kaitiaki of the maunga, it’s our duty to take care of its native residents. Soho Basin has biodiverse flora and fauna that will be prioritised and cared for when building and installing the lift.

Soho has a south-westerly aspect so throughout winter, the basin gets great snow accumulation. The snow also tends to stick around in the basin for a longer time, making it a great spring skiing destination too!

We review how we sell lift passes every season to adapt to our guests’ needs. At the moment, we don’t foresee any significant changes to the way we sell passes.
