Frequently
Asked Questions

A stone grind is a sandstone that grinds a structure pattern into the base of a ski or board. Patterns vary depending on snow conditions and the ski or board's use, e.g., race, freestyle, or freeride. The structure pattern improves the ski or board's glide performance by giving the snow a quicker way to disperse from the base.

Over the years, we have worked with our park crew and park squad coaches, as well as pro riders such as Will Jackways, to develop structure patterns that are a little more forgiving and work in a freestyle riding scenario. A stone grind will definitely benefit a rider in the park, getting you to the sweet spot in the landing or rail features with shorter run-ups. We have you covered!

Absolutely! Due to their width, stone grinding boards can require a bit more work time; we recommend them when they are new and not so torsionally twisted, which happens once they are ridden.

A recreational rider will definitely benefit from and appreciate a stone grind on their skis or board. A smoother and faster glide and a flattened base will improve performance. You won’t be left behind on a powder day…or on the cat tracks!

Yes, we have all sorts of patterns for every snow condition. Hard pack to powder to slush, we have you covered.
