Matilda Green’s family mountain tips

We grabbed five minutes with Matilda Green between snowflakes to get all the best tips for kid-friendly mountain days.

Matilda Green knows the secret to happy mountain days with kids: crisp air, no distractions, a family hype squad, and hot-choc moustaches. We grabbed five minutes with her between snowflakes to talk confidence, cuddles, and that magic first solo run.

1. What do you love most about time in the mountains with your family? - I love the crisp mountain air, the feeling of no outside distractions, and the encouragement between us all. Not to mention the cosy hot chocolates in the cafe!

2. How do you make mountain days work with three little ones in tow? - Preparation is key. Staying on the mountain is super helpful, as well as hiring the gear for the kids up there. The less gear to lug up and down the mountain, the better! Enrolling in ski kindy is amazing too, as it means mum and dad can get a couple of runs in while the kids learn to ski, or just hang out and play.

3. What do you hope your kids take from learning to ski? - I hope they gain confidence in doing something new and confidence in their own abilities. Plus the satisfaction of doing a few runs on your own!

4. What was your favourite memory from your trip last year?  - Watching the snow falling outside our cabin window up the mountain. Our kids had never seen snow before, and they were mesmerised.

5. If you had to describe Cardrona in three words, what would they be? - Fun, welcoming, adventurous.

Planning your own family play date at the biggest playground around? Stay up top, hire your gear on the hill, and tag-team a couple of laps while the little ones learn and play.

Ready to swap screen time for mountain time? Build your day now: book Ski Kindy for the littlies, lock in lessons and rentals, start with our best-value First Timer Packages, or grab your multi-day pass. More space to play, more reasons to stay.
